Trauma Therapy

Integrative trauma therapy in Arlington, Texas including Somatic therapy and EMDR therapy for individuals seeking healing in both body and mind.

When something painful happens to us - whether it be recently or long ago - our bodies hold that memory, even when our minds try to move on. At Radish, our approach to trauma therapy involves thoughtful attunement to what is living just beneath the surface in our bodies. Tension, irritability, numbness (physical and emotional), or even just that subtle feeling that something isn’t quite right are all examples of how our traumas manifest in our bodies.

We know that trauma isn’t just a story from your past - it is a lived experience held within your nervous system. Addressing that experience simply with talk therapy often isn’t sufficient. Our approach to trauma therapy allows you to safely reconnect with your body’s wisdom, process what feels stuck, and begin to move towards ease and reconnection.

What *is* trauma therapy?

At Radish Counseling, we offer trauma therapy through body-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Therapy. These evidence based methods allow you to process trauma without becoming overwhelmed. Rather than relying on just talk therapy, these methods encourage your body and brain to work together to release the charge of past trauma and restore calm, connectedness, and trust.

EMDR Therapy in Arlington & Fort Worth

We know. It sounds a little bit out there. What does moving your eyes have to do with healing trauma? And why is it SUCH a long acronym?

Simply put, EMDR is one of the most highly researched and effective treatments of trauma. It allows your brain to do what it is naturally wired to do - make sense of what happened so it can finally stop replaying it on a loop.  It’s like your mind has been spinning the same record for years, and EMDR gently helps the needle move forward again.

By using gentle eye movements, sounds, or tapping, EMDR helps both sides of your brain talk to each other while you revisit old memories in a safe, supported way. The result? The memory is still there, but it stops hijacking your present-day peace.

Many clients describe it as a kind of emotional spring cleaning—things that used to feel huge and heavy start to feel lighter, quieter, and less charged.

At Radish Counseling, EMDR therapy isn’t robotic or cold—it’s deeply relational. We go at your pace, check in often, and keep things grounded (and occasionally, we might even laugh in between the big stuff—because sometimes healing really does have room for a little humor).

Somatic Therapy in Arlington & Fort Worth

Our bodies are storytellers. Without saying a word they are able to hold the record of what we’ve lived through - a clenched jaw, tight shoulders, shallow breath. Somatic therapy cues you into what that story might be and allows you to hear it with compassion instead of judgment.

At Radish Counseling, we weave somatic therapy into every part of our work together. It might look like noticing sensation, grounding together, or even gentle movement during session. This can be especially helpful when labeling emotions feels impossible and talking about the pain feels terrifying. This deepened awareness invites in connection - to your body, to your people, and to your life in general.

Somatic work can support you if you are navigating trauma, anxiety, or burnout (to name just a few), and helps your nervous system to find its natural rhythm of safety and rest.
