Adolescent Counseling
Compassionate therapy for teens and parents navigating the challenges of adolescence with curiosity, care, and support.
The years between childhood and adulthood can feel like living in two worlds at once — one foot still in the safety of what was, and the other stretching toward something new and uncharted. It’s confusing and beautiful and sometimes a total mess — for teens and caregivers alike.
For many families, this season brings both connection and collision. There are slammed doors and quiet car rides, big feelings that come out sideways, and moments of laughter that remind you that closeness is still right there underneath it all. Everyone’s just trying to figure it out.
At Radish, there is space for all of that.
We believe adolescence isn’t something to “fix” — it’s something to move through together — with curiosity, compassion, and a good dose of grace for everyone involved.
To the Teen Reading This:
You don’t have to pretend you’re fine when you’re not. You don’t have to be perfect, or know exactly who you are, or have a five-year plan. (Honestly, most adults don’t either.)
This is your space — where you can breathe, be yourself, say the things that don’t feel safe to say anywhere else, and maybe even laugh a little along the way. We’ll talk, play, make sense of what’s going on underneath the surface, and help you find ways to handle stress, pressure, and the ups and downs of growing up without losing yourself in the process.
To the Caregiver Reading This:
We see how hard you’re trying. You love your teen fiercely and want to help, but sometimes it feels like they’re building a world you’re no longer invited into. It can feel impossible. Here, you can breathe too. We’ll help you make sense of what’s unfolding, support your own regulation, and find ways to reconnect — even in the middle of all the change.
Our adolescent counseling focuses on self-exploration, emotional resilience, and connection — both within the teen and the family. Through relational, trauma-informed, and creative approaches — like expressive arts, mindfulness, play, and somatic work — we help teens and caregivers reconnect to themselves and to each other in authentic ways.
Because adolescence isn’t just about surviving the chaos — it’s about discovering who you are, and learning that you don’t have to do it alone.
What to Expect
1. Initial Parent Consultation (50 minutes)
You’ll meet with the therapist first — no teens yet, just you and your counselor. This first session is a space for you to exhale and lay everything out on the table: the meltdowns that come out of nowhere, the quiet shutdowns that break your heart, the separation anxiety, the sibling explosions, the rigid routines, the worries that keep you up at night.
We listen closely. We ask gentle questions. We get curious together about what might be happening underneath the surface — not to judge or label, but to begin to understand. This is where we start building a picture of your teen’s world, and your world as their caregiver. It’s a collaborative process — one that honors your instincts, your insight, and the care that brought you here in the first place.
2. Weekly Adolescent Counseling Sessions
Once we’ve met with you, your teen begins meeting one-on-one with their therapist — in a space created just for them. Whether it’s through conversation, creativity, or quiet reflection, this is their time to explore what’s happening inside without pressure or judgment.
We follow their lead. Some sessions might look like deep conversation; others might include expressive arts, mindfulness, or movement — all guided by your teen’s unique needs and pace. Throughout the process, we gently notice themes, emotional shifts, and patterns that emerge as they begin to make sense of their world and strengthen their inner voice.
3. Ongoing Parent Consultations (every 3–4 sessions)
Because you’re part of this story, too. You are your teen’s most important relationship — their anchor — even when it doesn’t always feel that way. Supporting you is a vital part of the process.
These consultations are opportunities to pause, connect, and reflect together. You’ll have space to share what you’ve been noticing at home, ask questions, and receive insights from your teen’s sessions. We’ll talk through how their emotional world is unfolding and explore ways to support their growth and connection in daily life.
Parent consultations are not about giving you a list of “fixes” — they’re about helping you feel more confident, grounded, and attuned to your child. We walk alongside you every step of the way.
You’re not alone. We’ve got you. We’d be honored to walk with you and your family through this chapter.
